Business Ideas for Cafes and Restaurants. Anticafe “Butterflies”

We all know that most unique business ideas related to cafes and restaurants come from the land of the rising sun – Japan. Japanese entrepreneurs have endless imagination and a desire to create the strangest business ideas. And they also know how to implement these business ideas very well. However, this business idea from the theme of restaurants and cafes was invented in Russia, namely in Moscow.

Quite recently, a unique cafe, or rather an anti-cafe, “Babochki” was opened in Moscow. The whole point of this establishment is that you do not need to pay for an order; you pay for the time spent in the cafe. The price for 1 minute of sitting in the cafe is very democratic – only 1 ruble 50 kopecks. For an hour of sitting in the cafe, you will pay only 3 dollars. And everything else in this cafe is free!!!

Time Over Tips: The Anticafe Concept

You can have a free snack, watch a movie, even play Xbox (if it is not busy), or do your own thing and work. In the Babochki club, which opened near the Paveletskaya metro station, you can simply relax and enjoy the comfort of a cafe in the simplest, homely atmosphere, while drinking tea and coffee for free.

The name “Anti-cafe Butterflies” was not invented by chance, because all the people flock there, just like butterflies. It is known that the club was opened by three companions who had long been thinking about opening something specific and unique, but accessible and interesting, without rules and prohibitions, restrictions, and requirements. A little later, er they learned that there are places where you only need to pay for staying, and the future businessmen immediately got a second wind. It was decided to open a real Anti-cafe.

The Anticafe of the Butterfly is located on 5th Monetchikovsky Lane, in a large attic. There are four rooms in total: the main one with sofas and tables, a recreation area with an Xbox console, a small meeting room, and a cinema hall with the possibility of performing for lecturers and presentations. The Anticafe also has free Wi-Fi. You can treat yourself to tea and desserts in the club, and bringing your food is not prohibited. If someone wants to have a full lunch, there is home-cooked food here, and the average bill will be about 200 rubles.

Butterflies: A Space, Not Just a Café

At the entrance to the anti-cafe, you will receive a card on which the time and the bill for the lunch are marked; you have to pay when you leave. At the same time, about a hundred people can be in the anti-cafe, although in my opinion, it will be a little cramped. There is also an electronic booking system: on the website of the establishment, you can fill out a special form indicating the time of arrival, the desired table, and the expected number of people.

Nowadays, every evening at 9 p.m., various film screenings are held at Butterflies, where they mostly show classics of the film industry. To be on trend and maintain attendance, popular series like How I Met Your Mother or House M.D. are shown two days a week.

Over the last few years, with the increasing number of various freelancers and creative people working outside the office, the idea of working in such a place can be very productive and more economical. After all, you can sit here for hours, and no one will wait for you to leave. This trend promises good profit for those who use it wisely, and in this case, the “Anti-cafe Butterflies” is a good example of how it should all be organized.
